While I did have a one month long paid gig before this (that I really don't want to talk about), I consider this to be my first real job. DW initially pulled me in as a newswriter for their online presence, but I soon found myself writing more than just articles.
As DW eSports created their 'ingame News' video format, I began writing most (actually 96%) of the scripts for the series. For the YouTube channel, we dove into opinion pieces and analyses as well. As a writer for their web presence I was much more constrained, since DW required me to write for the average reader - meaning no detailed game content.
During my stay at DW, our team (the wonderful m3lly and njokde) visited dozens of events, recorded countless interviews and edited so many videos that I can't keep track of them anymore. I was do fortunate to meet these people and learn from them! I couldn't have pulled of my solo work without their previous guidance.
Though I had meddled in video editing before, this was the first time that my work was released on a professional platform. Considering this, I am still quite proud of my work there. Although - being honest - I do a much better job now!
All my articles are still online, though the YouTube and Twitter channels have been wiped since.
Please keep in mind who these articles are for - Someone with zero knowledge of esports and competitive gaming should be able to understand them.
